Job description
Insight, Strategy & Planning
Develop deep merchant and consumer understanding and actionable insights
Define the Marketing strategy for PayPal Japan (including both on & offline) with a focus on Merchant penetration and cross border business.
Develop and execute quarterly and annual Marketing plans
Learn from and share best practice across region and globally

Manage Marketing budget, OPEX & Contra. Prioritizing for greatest returns (spend vs plan & ROI)
Track and measure impact of all key activities to show ROI
Consumer Marketing Engine
Build brand salience, consideration and preference (awareness & preference)
Develop targeted Marketing plan to embed the PayPal Brand and Value Prop within Japanese Consumer mentality
Grow active consumer base focusing on new acquisition & win back (total active)
Drive value and engagement from consumer base (activation, adoption/engagement, txn/active, multi product usage, CLV)
Drive best possible consumer experience, working cross functionally Product/CS/Risk (NPS)
Manage messaging and communication across all consumer facing communication channels - on Brand
General Management
Develop, manage and inspire Japanese Marketing team.
Collaborate, leverage & drive efficiencies from Global Centres of Expertise
Active member APAC Marketing Leadership Team, Japan Country Leadership Team
Effectively manage Creative agency, media agency relationship
A minimum of 15 years' experience ideally with both B2B and B2C Marketing experience. Strong track record of creating strategic Marketing plans and executing through the line campaigns with robust ROI.
Strong CRM experience and comfort w data analytics to draw insights and shape strategies.
Experience in digital / online marketing coupled w a track record of delivering results.
Evidence of experience in a full range of Marketing Channels from broadcast, print, events, and PR to highly targeted DM and email.
Exposure working in global environment, across geographies and functional teams - able to navigate the matrix.
Strong leader with exceptional people management skills, a track record of building and leading high performing teams.
Strong project management skills with experience with work prioritization, planning, influencing and working in cross-functional teams
Strong consumer insight and understanding a must have
Additional understanding of support functions like Risk Management and Product Development will be an added advantage.
Domain experience in online payments is not essential, but familiarity with the e/mCommerce ecosystem and a variety of services that Merchants would utilize together with PayPal (i.e. shopping carts, payment gateway services) would be very beneficial.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Strong MS Office skills, particularly PowerPoint and Excel
Knowledge of online Marketing systems such as Mediaplex, Omniture, Unica preferred
Knowledge of CRM and analytical tools
SKILLS, COMPETENCIES AND CHARACTERISTICS:
Good team player with collaborative approach
Resides in Japan, fluency in Japanese
Strong people and communication skills, both written and verbal
Experience of working across multi-disciplinary teams
Proven analytical ability and results orientated
High energy and enthusiasm with evidence of being a self-starter and ability to be 'hands on'
Demonstrated track record of delivering results - on time
Agile and adaptable
Strong change management experience
Successful completion of a Bachelor's degree, MBA highly preferred.
