Manager - Online Marketing - Hulu - Tokyo


Job description
Hulu's Marketing team in Japan is seeking talented people to help build a service that helps people find and enjoy the world's premium content when, where and how they want it. This particular position plays a critical role within the overall business of Hulu Japan, and as such it requires a strategically minded manager who can interact extensively with the senior management team of the Japan business. The ideal candidate would be a highly analytical and detail-oriented manager and an entrepreneurial self-starter who is adept at digital marketing, especially SEM, display, adnetwork, and affiliate as well as at online traffic analysis and marketing data mining. Expertise with online product promotions is critical to success in this role.

In this role, you will create and manage digital marketing campaigns in support of subscriber acquisition efforts, and fine-tune them based on their measurable effectiveness. You will be responsible for managing multiple promotions simultaneously and ensuring their successful performance. A fundamental understanding of online subscription business key metrics is necessary. This role reports to the local Head of Marketing & Customer Acquisition in Tokyo, while there are other close working relationships with internal business partners and stakeholders in other countries.

Responsibilities
Work closely with internal teams (e.g., business development, product, design) and marketing partners to define, implement, and manage online marketing campaigns and promotions, with a particular focus on SEM, Display, adnetwork, and affiliate as well as at website analysis and marketing data mining
Manage a team of talented digital/online marketing professionals
Track and optimize performance of multiple promotions on a regular, ongoing basis
Drive merchandise promotions via social media and other channels
Execute marketing researches, especially related to the usability optimization of the website
Desired Skills and Experience
Basic/Minimum Qualifications
Minimum 5 years relevant digital/online marketing background with hands-on expertise with at least one of the following areas; Search/SEM, Display, Affiliate is required
Hands-on proficiency with at least one marketing analytics and reporting tools is also required. For example, Google Analytics, Adobe Insight, Adobe SiteCatalyst, WebAntenna, etc.
Leadership skills; whether you have directly managed teams before or have indirectly led project teams, this role requires someone who is skilled at coaching/developing/guiding the team
Fluency in Japanese and business level proficiency in English are required
Other/Preferred Qualifications
Ability to logically think from the initial decision making process, through in-depth analysis of business impact, and feeding that back to future planning through the PDCA cycle is essential to success in this role
Extremely strong critical thinking ability and a data-driven analytical approach
Ability to multi-task effectively and manage a complex portfolio of projects simultaneously
Experience with offline marketing is a plus, but not required
Technical savvy; HTML and data mining programming is a plus, but not required
Education
Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in marketing
MBA or other Master/s degree would be a plus, but not required
